The Muntinlupa Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) has extended the deadline for renewal of business permits to January 31. Local Economic and Investment Promotion Officer Gary Llamas said they decided to move the deadline originally set on January 20 to encourage business owners to pay the required fees without penalties.
Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) officials visited Muntinlupa City’s Business Permit Renewal Hub at Muntinlupa Sports Center for an inspection audit last January 21. ARTA lauded Muntinlupa’s policies on Ease of Doing Business including the Zero Contact Policy, Queuing System, and strict implementation of minimum health protocols. Joining the audit were: ARTA Deputy Director General (DDG) Ernesto V. Perez, Director Grace Fernandez, ARTA exec Atty. Marco Balleser, DILG Muntinlupa representative James Fadrilan, and LEIPO Gary Llamas.

The city government of Muntinlupa keeps on innovating on how it deals with businesses and is now using a single-window transaction in registering them. Muntinlupa Business SWiT (Single-Window Transaction) is set to transform trade and commerce in the city as the registration of budding enterprises, and business transactions with current investors and stakeholders speed up. Procedures for business permits registration have been cut to only one, which takes less than 30 minutes. Thus, it ensures faster transaction, less hassle and a lot of convenience for the client.

The entry of the Muntinlupa City government highlighting an innovative business transaction system did the Philippines proud when the city made it as one of the five finalists in the prestigious 4th International Best Practice Competition held during the 1st International Conference on Productivity and Innovation hosted by the Development Academy of the Philippines recently. The entry, named “Single-Window Transaction (SWiT) Modified Business One-Stop Shop (MBOSS),” impressed the judges for enabling clients applying for business permits and renewal to complete a transaction within 30 minutes or less using only one counter and one staff member to transact with.

SWiT-MBOSS provides simpler, quicker public service delivery and has resulted in a better, more business-friendly environment.
The Single Window Transaction-Modified Business One-Stop Shop or SWiT-MBOSS is a simplified system implemented by the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) for processing new business permit applications and renewals. SWiT-MBOSS consists of just three simple steps, all of which are done during the taxpayer’s interface with a single BPLO staff, from the start to the end of the transaction.
